Some of the Internet stuff I work on is:
Semi-Custom Website Design
These are designs based on website templates, and then customized for
your needs (i.e. putting in your wording, pictures, etc.). Many
small companies go with this because it's low cost, can be completed
relatively quickly, and is often a largely "hands-off" approach for the
busy business owner. Unfortunately, many people don't advertise
their websites at all and then become discouraged when they're
not getting new business from the website.
Custom Website Design & Advanced Development
Custom designed websites are best for medium- to large-sized
businesses, or other businesses that are ready to take the "leap" and
invest advertising the site itself. Since a custom website design
will be built exactly to your specifications, they may include custom
graphics or multimedia work (i.e. Flash animations, video, and other
special effects) and/or programming. Database-driven websites are
one of my favorites, are a necessity when dealing with large amounts of
information.
Hosting for Websites, E-mail, Databases, etc.
A website needs a hosting provider to maintain your website properly.
Our servers are housed in high-security, highly redundant data centers
in Miami and Atlanta that are monitored 24/7/365. Many of my
clients have told me horror stories about how they used a "cheap" host,
or someone that does hosting as a side business/from their home.
These are important to stay away from, as they don't have to time or
experience to keep your website, e-mail, and other online services up
and running consistently and at peak performance.
Search Engine Optimization and "Managed Marketing"
Search engine optimization, or "SEO", is the process of raising your
position on the major search engines for your main keywords (words that
someone would use to search for the products or services you offer).
It's a tedious process that involves making changes to your website and
helping to get your website known. The process can take several
months at best, but often results in significantly lower costs on your
paid online advertising over time.
What I like to call "managed marketing" is the process of signing
your website up for many of the pay-per-click ("PPC") and paid-inclusion
search engines and directories. It involves helping you to pick
your keywords, write advertising text, and your website pages. I
monitor each individual campaign quite frequently (as often as once each
day in the beginning) and continuously make changes to the aforementioned, so your
overall cost-per-click and cost-per-sale are as low as possible. I
am a Google Qualified Advertising Professional, have recently completed
my certification exam as administered by Prometrics. |
